General Coronavirus Information
COVID-19 is a new illness that is spreading world-wide and causing great concern. The NHS has published guidelines for coping with this new illness, including what to do if you think you may have COVID-19.
COVID-19 Isolation Guidelines
Hospitals and GP surgeries may become overcrowded with individuals who do not need immediate care if too many people rush to hospital just to see if their illness is COVID-19. Therefore, NHS has issued the following instructions for individuals who experience symptoms.
If you have either a high temperature or a new, continuous cough, you should stay at home for 7 days.
Go to work
Go to public places
Go to GP Surgery, pharmacy or hospital.
You do not need to call the NHS hotline to inform them that you are ill and staying at home. Simply stay at home, take self-care measures, and wait for the illness to pass.
When To Call 111
If you are self-isolating but feel unable to cope with your symptoms at home, or if your symptoms have not improved after 7 days, you should first use the online service for COVID-19. Only if you are unable to receive help online should you call the 111 hotline.
Caring For Yourself With COVID-19
According to the NHS website, those who have a fever or new, continuous cough, should remain at home and avoid contact with others for 7 days. Do not go to GP surgery, pharmacy, or hospital, to avoid infecting others.
While at home, in isolation, the NHS offers the following guidelines to help protect others in your home.
Stay at least three steps away from other people, especially older people or those with a history of health conditions.
Ask friends or family members to assist with shopping for food or medicines - but avoid contact with them during delivery.
Sleep alone if possible.
Wash your hands regularly, for at least 20 seconds.
Avoid contact with others, especially older people and those with compromised health conditions.
Don't have visitors! Don't leave the house!
